This project was inspired by an 'industry challenge', in which we were to create a mobile friendly website or app that related to the industry challenge. We then presented our idea on a responsive website.
The industry challenge I chose to pursue was related to the mountain biking trails in Wellington. We had a lot of freedom as to how to move forward with the project, so I chose to base mine on a personal problem I had faced as a runner trying to find good trails around Wellington.

My Process

First I wrote down and sketched what key ideas and features I wanted in my app. I always like to roughly sketch out my ideas and list ideas as I have them, so I don't forget anything!
I then translated my sketched ideas into a digital format using Figma.
I wanted to keep my logo simple, easy to read and easy to replicate onto a smaller screen.
From the photos I took for the website and through a process of iteration, I came up with a colour scheme for my app. I wanted to keep the colour scheme relevant to the app idea, which is why I chose nature/trail colours, with a bright accent to use as a highlight.
As I love photography, I used this opportunity to take some quality photos for the website as well.
While this project was primarily based on the app design, a big part of it was the final website for presentation. This project was a combination of photography, UX/UI design and website design, which are some of the most enjoyable aspects of design for me.
